Flax has accompanied humanity since the Neolithic — its Latin name means 'most useful' — and its seeds are the gentlest intestinal regulator there is: the mucilages swell with water and ease transit without irritation, unlike stimulant laxatives. They're also the richest plant source of omega-3 (alpha-linolenic acid) and lignans.
