This golden mountain daisy is the most famous external remedy for knocks, bruises and muscle strain: its sesquiterpene lactones (helenalin) reduce inflammation and speed the reabsorption of bruising. At home the arnica gel sits next to the plasters; in sport, it's in every kit bag.
