Brought from South America in the 18th century and named after Queen María Luisa, this long-leaved plant releases the finest lemon fragrance of any herb. Its infusion — digestive and mildly relaxing — is perhaps the best-loved after-dinner tisane of the region: if you grow only one herb, make it this.
