This Australian giant, long naturalised in Iberia, concentrates cineole (eucalyptol) in its leaves — one of the best-known natural respiratory decongestants. It opens the airways, loosens mucus and leaves that clean-nose feeling everyone associates with winter and grandma's vapour rub — which does in fact contain it.

How to prepare it

Infusion or, better still, steam: hot water, a few leaves, towel over the head, breathe deeply.
